Rant Unnumbered

May 3, 2020

If nothing else I’m hoping this little rant will make it to whatever platform might attract the readers who worry me most. Those are friends I’ve known for years and never had reason to doubt their good hearts or good sense.

To make a long rant short, this is for anybody I know and care about – plus all the others I don’t know but would probably care about if I did – who is still yea-saying Donald Trump and his behavior. Please pay attention to what you see and hear in your live feed and on whatever TV station you favor – even if you never watch anything but Fox/Conservative News, you’ll still see the glaring discrepancies in what is said from one newscast to the next.

You’ll notice that Trump insists loudly and repeatedly that he be given credit for anything that happens which turns out well, whether he had anything to do with it or not (and he never gives credit to those who advise him if he should happen to take that advice). He also abdicates any responsibility for anything that does NOT turn out well, loudly and repeatedly placing blame on anything or anyone else that catches his notice.

I will admit there are a few exceptions to the above. Trump has been known to praise many who have caught his attention – but in most cases he has also done an about-face a day or a week later, and soundly trashed the very person he praised. He can be counted on to leap to the forefront of whatever parade is garnering the most positive attention in the media.

I defy anyone to point out a president in this or any other country who has been as free from any sense of responsibility and as lacking in the leadership qualities that are so crucially important for any person in a position of power over others. He simply cannot acknowledge any lack or error on his own part, and will go to amazing and horrifying lengths in his need to be admired.

Trump does NOT believe that other people are as good as he is; he even said in so many words that he should be the ‘total authority’. In his subconscious he probably does think he’s God, or at least has or should have Godlike powers. A qualified psychiatrist could maybe figure out how his mind works, but it’s pretty well hidden from the casual observer – even those close enough to observe him on a regular basis.

For a person as unfettered by any moral code and as basically adolescent in his behavior and reactions to be where he is, America has got worse problems than Covid19 or a near-tanking economy. Have we lost our ideals, our vision of a free and equal society that welcomes diversity? It sure sounded good to folks in 1776 – can we make it to 2076? Now there’s a question for visionaries. Please step up, whoever you are. We need you badly!

I had to come back and add one more plea:  if you are getting all your news from Facebook, you are being slowly (or rapidly) but surely poisoned. Please do not contribute to the plague.
